Regional Issues 

Making, and keeping, Craven County an attractive place to do business is our first priority.

The Craven County Economic Development Commission (CCEDC) is proud to have played a part in creating a diverse economy in the region a region driven by technology industries and fueled by world-class institutions.

Addressing the Region's Challenges:

EDC is also addressing the challenges that have emerged as a consequence of Craven County's growth and prosperity. EDC focuses on quality of life issues including housing, transportation and infrastructure, workforce and education. There are several committees working on these issues.

Airport

CCEDC supports the Craven Regional Airport, and maintain an ongoing advocacy for projects and policies that increase the passenger and air cargo capacity of the region.

Communication/Utilities

In our global economy it is imperative for businesses to have dependable utilities and a strong telecommunications system at their fingertips.

Craven County is served by professional companies dedicated to keeping your company linked world-wide.

Housing

CCEDC works to improve housing affordability by supporting projects and policies that increase the supply of affordable housing for families. The CCEDC also supports projects and policies that maximize efficient land use for employment and housing needs.

Transportation

CCEDC works to promote projects and maintain safe policies for the citizens of Craven. The executive director is a member of the Craven/Pamlico/Jones Transportation Committee.

Tourism

CCEDC works together with the Downtown Merchants Associates, New Bern and Havelock Chambers of Commerce, New Bern Riverfront Convention Center, Swiss Bear Downtown Development Corporation and Tryon Palace Historic Sites and Gardens.

Workforce/Education

CCEDC works closely with existing industry, Craven Community College, Craven County Schools and the Institute of Aeronautical Technology.
